... away well before the champagne departure drinks reception at 2200hrs!!!!! we did however wake up-just before 'take off' to watch the wharf disappear behind us and the glittering skyline of Bergen twinkled in the distance. Christian and Camilla live in a great apartment that they have renovated, only a short distance from downtown Oslo, so after breakfast we all head of on a sightseeing / walking your of the city. Firstly down along the river where urban renewal has been happening. All those old factories that once relied on the flow of the river to drive the machinery (or get rid of the waste!) have now been converted into very trendy apartment blocks ...

We skipped food at dinner time, instead sharing a bottle of "house" red and chatting to two couples from Adelaide.
Most people stay on the ferry for at least a few days, enjoying the time to just sit and admire the scenery. Our cabin was on the second bottom deck, one above the car deck. For the first time while away our room was cool rather than quite (or very) ...
... br> Our original plan was to head south towards Bergen and Stavanger but because a truck had burnt down in one of the tunnels meant we had to change strategy and Ålesund was the obvious choice. And the amount of tunnels in this country is worth a mention. I don't think we drove for more than half an hour in the fjord region without going through a tunnel, some up to 25kms long. I guess there aren’t many other options ...
... you look there are picturesque homes, rolling hills, and mountains that seem to reach the sky, many whitecapped or splashed with snow. As we drove on, and up, towards our destination, the temperature dropped and snow became more and more prominent. Finally, the bus came to a stop and a restaurant overlooking the path of the trolls. To our surprise and relief, lunch was included; Salmon, rissoles, potatoes, mixed vegetables and ice cream cake ...
