    This morning we ate breakfast in our room which we had bought the night before, met in lobby at 8.30 and Akiko took us to Kenrokuen Garden very beautiful, we then went to see a porcelain pottery studio.     ... to Kyoto it is miles away from main stream tourism. Sadly it was very misty so we could not take advantage of going up to the mountains. Jonathan has been living in Japan for over 20 years and was able to explain lots to us which was great.     ... to be the owner of my accommodation and she kindly picked me up, this was another difference from China where if people stopped like that you would just ignore them.     The past few days have been relatively quiet. We've been staying in a little village called Omi-Maiko, which is next to Lake Biwa – the largest lake in Japan (Google it – it really is massive).
