... did a spot of shopping at H&M and Lindex. We also discovered the busiest shop in town, the Systembolaget. Yes this is where the Swedes get their full strength beer and not even that, 10% beer and 7% Cider! The place was packed, so much for trying to minimise alcohol consumption. There are no off-licences to go to get any full strength alcohol past 5pm or 6pm when the shops close, so basically this is the only place besides bars and restaurants to get your alcohol. Interesting ...
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden wizalll... grounds are stunning with its own little beach and wooded forest and the waters of lake vanern weren't too cold, we might even consider a dip later...
Our gorgeous serenity was then only ruined by 2 bus loads of high school students. Damn... ah well kind of nice to have some more people around.
We had a game of mini golf in the afternoon, it seems big over here as there is a course at every ...
... at the site and we had the whole cafe to ourselves.
Its so refreshing to go to a country that is not overloaded with tourists even in the low season. We then headed inland which turned out to be the most amazing drive through postcard perfect picturesque countryside landscape. Every turn put us cruising along the side of a still lake lined with fir pine forest and dotted with the occasional remote house and dingy (painted in Swedish Ochre of course). Along the ...
... excellent if you are interested in maritime life and salvage operations. It is dark though so apologies for the photos.
So now, I’m writing you from Paris. We are staying with Sarah and Nissim for the night, and then heading to Northern France to wwoof. Wwooffing (www.wwoofing.org) is an international organization where you work for a farm and they house you and feed you some of your meals. The work can be varied as can be the ...
... for a second time. boring now! The highlight of the night was actually talking to the Swedish guy who sat next to me at the concert, we had a good chat about the history and whatnot of the Karlstad/Kristinehamn area and similarities between Norway-Sweden relations and NZ-Aus relations. I was jealous that he lived in Sweden. Back to Norway now. In truth I'm not exactly thrilled about this, but I think getting out of the cities will be a good idea so this is my intention! cheers, -mike
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden mikerickson... years old. thats quite old. Other than that I have been relaxing and enjoying the quaintness and pretty old town feel and cheap food... I can afford to eat again! There is a big event on here which has just started today, the annual go-kart races which go for four days. They race around the main town square with the finish line right outside the tourist office where I am now. I ...
Kristinehamn, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden mikericksonSince i'm new to this kind of things so lets see how this ends up:) Right now i'm not out travelling, i'm sitting in my parents flat in central Karlstad where I just found this blog while playing Traveler IQ Challange on facebook, so i thought, what have i got to lose? Travelling is a big part of my life and so far i have seen very much, but there is still very much ...
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danielwrinell19 minutes past midnight and we are leaving Karlstad by a bus that is taking us to Örebro, where we'll change to another bus that will take us to Stockholm Skavsta Airport in Nyköping. In about 17 hours we'll hopefully be in Innsbruck in some pub or fan-area where we can view the game between Sweden and Spain.
Karlstad, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden danielwrinellWe have been living on an island for almost a month now. Today we woke up to 4C and thought that the time had come to leave. We still don't know if we are selling our hose in Florida NEXT week or not. I think realtors (real estate agents) are the tru evil on earth! How much pure **** can come out of ones mouth and still nothing happens?
Roholmen, Sweden svante... Sad to say, the saint in me won and I didn't deliberately take their photos. We decided not to have lunch in the restaurant and settle for McDonalds. It wasn't really 'fast' food over here. The queue moved very slowly. Taking up to 15 minutes to get your orders though. I ordered our value meals and was deliriously happy that Swedish McDonalds have Chili Sauce. It's packed in the same container as the dip for McNuggets. That was the best McDonalds I had in weeks ...
