We got up around 8am this morning and ate a small breakfast at the chateau before loading up the car. Voila! Turns out that the Golf has extra trunk storage underneath a hidden panel, so all of our luggage fits in the trunk except for one small duffle - yay! We drove southeast to Toulouse where we stopped for a relaxing lunch at a sidewalk cafe. Toulouse has a very active street scene shaded by beautiful old sycamore trees. There's also a canal that runs through the center of town, so everyth...

It's wierd seeing a fast flowing river and then walking 50 metres "upstream" and there only being a trickle.. and then a bit further and no water... nothing but a big cliff straight up!

The town itself is nestled in a valley and is particularly pretty at dusk when rocks take on the colours of the sunset ...

Not much remains but 2 columns, 6 bits of columns, and piles and piles of rubble with fantastic carvings on them. It’s amazing to think of a nation who worked so ***********quer other lands. And not just conquer, but build amazing structures, theaters, coliseums, walls, and aqua-ducts. And other ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango... to wander around this town ad see the exact places that are pictured in famous works. It’s amazing how much closer you can feel to a person just knowing you’ve been to the same places. But of course, 120 years later things have changed. Buildings are gone, skylines have changed, and 20th century influence is everywhere! Not quite as romantic ...

This morning we went on a wine tour (I know, but it is too hard to resist) around the Cotes du Rhone with Phillipe, a very competant and helpful local guide. We ended up at Chateauneuf du Pape drinking wonderful reds which has been a wine hightlight of the trip - the village has the most amazing view of Provence ...

Avignon, Provence, France qyzhang... Arles was our second "smaller" town of our trip. By this time, we had become comfortable traveling in France and started to enjoy the people as much as the sights. Below is a picture of Aaron with some crazy Frenchmen at a little restaurant/bar. We were the only tourist customers in the place and there were only a handful of locals. Overall, we picked a great place to spend our last days in France.

We must also announce that the streak is over. Two months having at least a beer each day ended upon our arrival here. We have traded in the pint glasses for wine glasses. We purchased an ok bottle of Cote du Rhone wine for about 4 bucks Canadian, not bad. We think we can get used to this! Off to Avignon.

I came home and hung up my laundry and tried to find someone to eat dinner with. That didn't happen. I was about to give up on dinner and I decided, if Elise can make stuff up, I can too. I boiled some rice, but some basil, red peppers, onions, and ...
