    ... swim in. We went into town but because it was Sunday everything was closed. We went back to the lake and found out where all the people were. It was very crowded and every second person had a small bbq. There was that many bbqs that the air was thick with smoke, talk about smoke on the water. It was a little disappointing but with nothing open I suppose the locals and tourists all end up at the lake. ...

    ... Then the fun began. We couldn't find a taxi big enough to take us and the boxes, and by the time we found the bus terminal, the bus we needed had gone. John decided to put the bikes together, just outside the police station, so that we could lock them up and leave them there while we got a taxi to our hotel, and then we would walk back the 3 km and get the bikes, riding them back to the hotel.     ... saw some tiny airplanes fly around, and went to a indoor-outdoor spa/swimming pool. It was very cool, with heated pools and other swimming areas with a very relaxing atmosphere. Afterwards we explored a bit of the town of .....I already forgot what it's called...... whoops. I'll update later if I remember.
    Anyway, lots of experiences in just 5 days, and then we took the train up into Germany! ...

    We arrived in Switzerland late on Saturday night after taking a scenic train ride through France. Darren fell asleep and I couldn't resist taking a photo. It was amazing to see the scenery changing so much as we got closer to the French and Swiss alps - reminded us of the South Island and we are starting to miss home a bit. On the train ride into Lausanne we circled Lake Geneva (or as the Frenchies call it, Lac Léman). It was quite funny to hear the train announcements ...

    ... in the cafeteria and finished some more work I needed to complete. After that it was time to present my poster. It was so hot in the hall, no air conditioning! There was a fair crowd and people were interested in my work, which was great. My professor and his partner (my secondary supervisor!) met up and we chatted and talked about our travels. Then…so quickly, it was over and I took down my poster!!! All that time waiting, then – finished! WOW! ...
