We are winding up our trip to Dallas and have spent the time with Simon and his family. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday has meant beautiful weather with daytime temperatures reaching 21 degrees and very sunny. We have visited a number of parks and done a few good walks. Sunday we went to Lewisville. We miss the coffee shops attached to the parks we have back in Australia. On Monday Steve and Christine went to Grapevine Mills DFO to try and retrieve the taxes ...

We enjoyed a picnic lunch, playing in the fallen leaves and the playground ...

These first 3500 kilometers were the easy ones - after transferring from the domestic to the international terminal and a quick McDonald's cheeseburger pit stop, we were boarding our long-haul flight to Dallas. This flight would definitely be a test; 2nd last row on a two-storey Boeing 747, 14.5 hours, over 14,000 kilometers and changing not only time zones but hemispheres. ...

The planning, the packing, the pre travel minutia and the self doubt about the contents of your suitcase gives one pause as to the need to venture out of town! But, we are off in the morning and after a brief layover in LA we will be hunkering down for our 14 hour flight to Shanghai. We land in Shanghai at 7:30 pm on May 8. We will be staying on The Bund during our time in Shanghai.
