... buildings. You could imagine this to be a bustling town once, but due to competition from neighbouring towns and the fact that bigger places like Albuquerque are only about 90 mins drive away the town appears to have just faded.

We left Paris after 9 am, stopped one time at a rest stop on 287 to let Zoey out. The wind was blowing , and the temp was 100 making for a ' dry heat' . I didn't take my camera out of the coach but I wish I'd taken pictures of the sign there. WATCH FOR RATTLESNAKES. ... twin attempted to teach us to dance 2 step meanwhile josh was asked to dance by a big fat girl. We were dire and they soon gave up. More locals introduced themselves to us offering their service at any time and other cheesy American lines. ... was 7pm so it wasn't too bad.
We had gotten past Dallas and now we were on the hunt for a campground right off the interstate. We spotted one in Terrell. It worked out perfect. Easy to get to from the interstate but not too close so that you heard the traffic all night.
It was a long strenuous day plus the deducted sleep from the storm on the night before.
Tomorrow is the final stretch. Another 410 miles and 7 hours of driving to go.
... the winds are expected to subside about noon and we will seek out our campground for the next couple of days. We need to slow down a bit, we have over three weeks left until we arrive in Arcata/McKinleyville, CA for Katie's graduation. Our plan is to go to the Route 66 area, Cadillac Ranch and other sites of local interest.
