    ... let one of their dogs take a **** near the shoreline, then just left it there as we all sat there in disbelief. Yuck! A good Samaritan did appear out of no where with a plastic bag to scoop it up and throw it away, thank goodness!

    ... base, as if they were sucking up swamp water to survive. It was a bit buggy, but not as bad as we thought it may be with all of the surrounding moist swamps. The forest was a mix of tall pines and deciduous trees. A lot of the trees had moss hanging on to the branches or vine growing up the entire trunk.

    This morning I went for my last morning walk on the beach. I then went and woke the family up to go swimming in the ocean before a late breakfast. Our hotel check out was for 11am but we totally missed that. We then drove to New Bern to get some pictures of some places around town that I wanted reminders of from my childhood.     Monday was, in the words of Rick Steves, a "vacation within a vacation". We had lunch near the Capitol @ Big Ed's - BBQ brisket, slaw, squash and onions, butter beans, cornbread, biscuits, and great banana pudding. We hit Target, Macy's, and the Apple Store.
