    Home Sweet Home

A travel blog entry by psandefur on Jul 24, 2014

Although we had planned on 6 months we made it 113 days and Terry drove the motorhome 7,478 miles and 6,480 in the Jeep totaling 13,958.

We saw everything we wanted to see and were lucky to have good weather every where we went until we hit the south and got the rain and humidity.

Our next journey will continue next year....Stay tuned.

... time to explore downtown Daytona and was surprised by its charm. In addition to lovely old homes, cute little stores and restaurants, there was a huge library, a race track and Manatee Island, a small island that is dedicated as a dog park. The Captain, with his ever amazing font of information, explained that Daytona ...

Actually got off the highway and drove into town. What an I say. Very unusual town. And quite honestly wouldn't feel safe staying n town. So we headed back to the highway where there were a group of hotels and fast food restaurants together. Really just needed a bed for the ...

    ... freed and settled there.
Today, only 13 people live on this 18 mile long island and there is 1 woman who lives alone, after she shot and killed her boyfriend, and has been there for 40 years (she arrived at age 18). We happened to run into her. Looks like she time warped from the 60's.
Be sure to look at our pictures from today. Tomorrow, we leave for Savannah, Georgia.

    Making Lemonade out of Lemons

A total rainout day today. Optimistically, we drove to Amelia Island, Florida and Fernandina Beach. I am sure on a sunny day, it would be spectacular. We walked around the quaint town, did some driving sightseeing and had lunch at the beach. It pretty much rained all day, but at least it wasn't cold or windy. Looking forward to tomorrow with improved weather and a trip to Cumberland Island. ...
