I like the idea of being able to take a gondola to the top, drink wine in a BEAUTIFUL setting, then ski back down to the base and car. Wait a minute---that must be the wine talking, as there wasn't ANY snow today. Even if you CAN'T ski off this hill, it STILL is a neat experience to ascend to the castle winery via a gondola tram.

Two days, twelve wineries, and some great memories with Tyler, Kristin, and Gwynne. Tyler and Kristin met us in Napa and we were excited to explore the area together and enjoy some really good wine and food. After Napa, we had a day with Gwynne in Berkeley / San Francisco to look forward to. B's first trip and he was able to ride the historic trolley (and the BART), check out Ghiradelli square, views of the Golden Gate Bridge, an authentic sea food ...
... couldn’t wait to get to Napa as it so hot outside, I would absolutely loathe it if the car breaks down (we saw a few smoking cars along the way). Once we’ve gotten past being awestruck by the scenery, it became rather boring as the same landscape repeats itself over the 7 hours drive. As my friend (and DD) commented, people tend to forget that there is nothing much between LA and San Francisco!

Next we parked and walked through the rec center. It was a little nicer than the one at Platina , and the pool was bigger, but half of it was for adults only. They had a nice cooking area too for making bigger meals.
We made a plus/minus list for the ranch at Paltina, we both agreed that we didn't even need to do that for this one. We left the ranch headed for Carmel...so disappointed.
... earlier. Next to Raymond is a great stop for lunch. An Italian winery that has a deli and a huge picnic area in their garden, full of trees. We had some food there and napped under the trees. How nice! Once recovered, we drove up to the Beringer winery which is one of the older wineries here, But we didn’t have any more wine degustations, we just enjoyed their estate which is pretty and well maintained. My original plan was to stay overnights ...
