... and with the water to our left, the view was always nice, especially when we could see Granville Island across the sea, with their huge public markets. Plenty of runners and walkers using the path, and a couple of cyclists who hadn't grasped the separation yet, but other than that, it was straightforward.

... and the water is pretty shallow and uninteresting, so don’t walk too far before getting wet and swimming out to the start of the coral. The water is not too cold, medium clarity, but the coral is pretty ordinary. There is a fair bit of fish life, a small turtle in a cavern in the coral, the usual suspects, but nothing much, so we head for the channel marked by buoys, to get out beyond the reef, hanging around long enough to make sure there was no major current, ...

... because even though I should have crashed by then, it was just such an awesome place! It took me a while to figure out how to turn off the jazz music, but in the meantime I worked out how to operate the TV screen in the bathroom mirror, sorted out what suitable clothing I did have in the suitcase I'd picked up in Winnipeg (not much) and had a cup of tea. By the time I'd wound down it was 3am. I lay down on the most heavenly soft bed I'd ever slept in, and the next time I woke ...
