... the sour milk and lack of breakfast was a let down, as was the dog that smelled so bad that if he was in a completely different part of the hostel you could still smell him. The worst a dog could possibly smell: wet. Not just water wet, almost a **** wet. The owner doesn't even touch the dog, he uses a coat hanger around it's neck to move it where he wants. We took a collectivo (local bus) to the beach for the day to then realize what everyone was on about by saying "get out of Cancun ASAP". Beaches were amazing, but the atmosphere was different; very party, touristy and pricey. Visions of Ibiza spring to mind. PLAYA DEL CARMEN An hour or so south was "Playa". A lovely spot ...
