Having most recently nearly half frozen to death in Copenhagen, when Mattijs and I left our hotel to explore Berlin, we were pleasantly surprised by the rather balmy temperatures (and when I say balmy, I mean warmer than 10 degrees Celsius!) Armed with only a couple of paper maps and our wits, we set out in the sunshine. Following some rather shoddy map reading skills, we ended up wandering through Hascheker Markt before arriving on Museum Island. Berlin it seems has so many museums ...

A little religion. I have attended services at the local liberal service. I liked the service. Last Friday, someone on my program invited me to a shabbat service and meal at someone's apartment. We went to he Berlin Wall and spent a good time there until I had to give up seeing so much information on Warsaw's destruction. We then went to Alex Plaza, a ...

... part of German history when hundreds and thousands of Jews (including the disabled/impaired and gay and lesbian’s) were murdered.

We stopped for a lunch break towards the end of the tour and Marc and I got chatting to a young Aussie guy from Perth on our bike tour that was travelling on his own. He was quite friendly and was giving us some advice on places to see in Budapest and Southern France. He was nearing the end of his 8 week holiday ...

... Lisa had kindly booked us an English speaking tour of Berlin via bikes. Well it's been quite a while since I have been on a bike so I was a little apprehensive but as I found out it's something you don't forget, I just wasn't as confident as everyone else. However I did really enjoy myself. We had a very chatty English chap conducting the tour, so consequently our 3 hour tour stretched into 4.5 hours. We all enjoyed a late lunch before heading back to ...
