The Swiss Guards protect the Pope and are there for up to 2 years. Our final night was at a restaurant off the Piazza Navona where a female opera singer and her daughter entertained us during our meal. ... and pastries in the square. We had a visit to San Gimignano which had an awesome view from the ruins at the top of the town. Andie treated us to a gelato and Don and I got a panini with cheese and prosciutto which we ate in the town square. The area has many vineyards which we sampled at our dinner at La Certosa Monastery that night. We had a guided tour through the monastery where only 4 monks aged 66-83 live. ...

The mulberry tree, while it had its trunk the other side of the fence, draped its branches over the roadside. Yum.

Paul and Dave swam at the local beach while Karen and I lazed around the pool. The immaculate one....the other still being a haven for frogs. Dinner on the verandah as the sun set.

Come 12.00, and the town was deserted. A stray cat shot across the piazza and that was it.
