    ... by my co-pilot.

We got back to the parking lot where the nice lady informed us that we owed an extra Euro, and then we descended and were off. All of us agreed that this place that we’d stumbled into, totally unplanned, would likely be the highlight of the trip.

We roamed through the hills of Tuscany and Umbria, and I think that all of us (the adults at least) were a little sad that we wouldn’t have more time to spend ...

    Orvieto...we don't want to leave!

We had a lovely week and a half hanging out here. In Rome it was about the sites and history. In Orvieto it has been about the people and slowing down. We met really wonderful people here and that made Orvieto feel more like home.

First of all, Susan from Santa Barbara shared her home with us. Then, Victoria took us all around and introduced us to all her Italian friends ...

Celebrating San Giuseppe (Patron Saint of Orvieto) is a big event here in town. Celebrations go on all week end. Thursday night it begins in the Duomo with a service and then a parade down to the republica where the band plays.

We didn't know it was happening this weekend and yesterday we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves smack dab in the middle ...

For all you foodies out there, you haven't tasted a meatball until you've eaten one at iL Grottino in Pitigliano, Tuscany, Italy. Victoria, an American who lives in Orvieto, offered to take us for a drive out in the countryside. She drove us out to see Lake Bolsena and then to a lovely hill town called Pitigliano. On our way to Pitigliano, we stopped for a walk at the ...
