    ... a great shower and washed the road off me and am now settling in to finish this blog entry then take a walk into Coolangatta to search for some dinner. ANZAC day tomorrow. The reception girls said there was some sort of service at the local surf club in the morning so might wander down there and pay my dues. Being ANZAC day I don't expect much to be open tomorrow so might just hang around here and make my way to Scott's on Saturday. Any way... Dinner time... ...

    ... the other side of the station which is great! Check in at islanders resort, room 415, nice spacious room, balcony overlooking town, can see beach. Sharing with a Korean girl who is very quiet. After settling in and sorting our things out we made our way down onto the esplanade for a walk alongside the beautiful long beach.     ... really. After the beach a few boring admin bits, laundry, etc, then straight out for rest of the day . . . however we didn't get far because of a massive storm, so took cover in a bus shelter! Then headed back to hostel, we tried again later and made it all the way to town.

    ... and get a sticker for my collection, which will have to be my Byron Bay souvenir (thanks Sunshine Cycles!). I continue on, unfortunately having to ride up the M1 motorway. I feel anxious about this - it's against the law to cycle on a motorway in the UK, and I don't fancy starring in the Australian version of "Police, Camera, Action" as a misguided Englishman riding where he shouldn't be! However, I see some other cyclists ahead, so I figure it's probably ok. ...
