Today marks a couple of firsts. First day writing a blog, first day going to a National Park, first day of summer, and first time traveling in the new car.

So today we left at 8:45 and drove for hours to Congaree National Park. We got there and had a great picnic at the pavilion across the parking lot. We went straight inside to the Harry Hampton ...

... problems but having a good time. After we departed from this area we floated a bit more until we reached the tree house.

The treehouse was incredible! A bit of back story: A man owned the land right off the side of the river. He built a tree house as his stay in America, he traveled a lot. The house was equipped with ac and plumbing and electricity it was mind blowing. He went ...

... Boardwalk Trail. Although most of the elevated boardwalk was closed, a short section that leads to an overlook on Weston Lake was still open, so we were able to go out there for views of the oxbow lake. There was Spanish moss hanging from trees along the shore making for a beautiful scene. From here, we got on Weston Lake Loop Trail and hiked along the edge of Weston Lake and through more sloughs and even saw some ...

... I bet he was the truck parked next to us..... He said,"hey!!" Not in a friendly way but in a wtf way. He then watched me walk back to the cab (I think he was bewildered). Yes, I have a pee pot (more about that later). Men can just hang off the side of the truck. Fueling up takes a long time....we have a small tank. They can get up to 300 gallons though. To fill the tank on this truck can cost $750! Besides fueling there ...

... could. I became great friends with my roommates who I met on craigslist but turned out to be 2 of the most amazing people I have ever met. Their puppies are my favorite dogs in the world! They have a wonderful group of friends I have been lucky enough to hang out with and even their families have been incredibly welcoming.

Although not an ideal location, Columbia is a gem and I know that my time here will be enlightening and I WILL be sad to leave.
