      In like a lamb??

Hope March is coming in like a lamb for all of you storm battered Maritimers! There are definite signs of spring here in Dongguan: many more birds chirping, new flowers in bloom, a big dead bug on our balcony and the big frogs are croaking in the gardens.

We started back to school on Wednesday so it was a short week. Funny, after you're back to work for a couple of days, your trip seems so long ago! Boracay was a beautiful tropical destination with lots ...

We have good WIFI in our room, but, as we learned, Facebook and anything Google is blocked in most of China. Also, Safari does not work. Natalie and I were able to buy a Chinese browser app, so we could use the internet, but Don wasn't able to because his phone is an android. We had the rice cakes and peanut butter that we had brought with us for breakfast and were out of the hotel just after 9:00 am. The streets ...

It's our first and only full day in Guangzhou, and after finally getting a proper, deep sleep, I feel so ready to check out some of this city. I've been up since about 6am Guangzhou time, and for anyone that really knows me, this is beyond early for me. After waking up I managed to find out that iMessage and WhatsApp work here so I made sure to chat with my sister and my friend Vincent for a little bit. I need that connection to home! For breakfast we had some ...

... eventually got on a bus that would drop us off near our hotel, but beyond that we weren't entirely sure what we were doing. Thankfully my mom had Pocket Earth all fired up and managed to get us there (though to be fair we did get some excellently timed directions from some fellow Anglophones). At this point we had now traveled for half a day on a plane, were staring jet lag in its cold dark eyes, and had ...

... our tickets, so we could show that we would be leaving on Saturday. I went to the currency exchange and got 1,132 yuan for 200 dollars US. We were planning to just get a taxi from the airport, but when we stepped out of the airport we saw some airport express buses. An agent directed us to the right one. It cost us 21 yuan each, or about 4 dollars each for the 40-kilometre ride into the city. We weren't sure which ...
