... The scenery from here was actually really pretty. It's amazing, the landscape is so barren - there's just mountains in the distance and then a whole lot of nothing, yet it's so pretty in its own unique way. I really like it :) The trip was pretty uneventful until we reached the city limits of Barstow and traffic came to a complete standstill, and then we had 3 lanes of freeway traffic just crawling along. Finally at the top, we hiked the 1/2 mile back to the car and found it safe and sound. A two hour drive back to Kingman and a stop at the first available food (McDonalds!) where we sat in silence inhaling french fries for a good 20 minutes. After that, onward to Bullhead City (AZ/NV border) where the temperature was 107 degrees.

... candy and headed for the car. The burros, though plentiful were well fed and didn't bother us much. Lana did feed a couple but they really weren't very interested.
Back in the car, we again followed Rt. 66 toward Topock, AZ and the California line just across the Colorado River. Leaving Rt. 66 for I-40 to cross the bridge over the river we headed for Needles, CA and a good night's rest.
