A travel blog entry by jamesfamily on Dec 22, 2014

Our first stop this morning was at the Apartheid museum after driving through downtown Johannesburg. It was huge and very informative. Sadly we were rushed through it and had to miss large chunks. It gave a social history of South Africa since the early 1900s. It was a must do and an eye opener for us all, especially the children. It is a passion and a calling for the wild which lingers always in our memories which drives us to camp, bush and rough it ! But it does not mean you have to be uncomfortable. Thank you CHRIS DAVIES for your BOTSWANA, MET YS ! article in the Getaway. May 2013.

... it's only money, so we decided not to think about it anymore. As we left the guesthouse and walked along the street, it really hit me how protected everything is and how people must feel a little bit trapped living behind huge concrete walls with electric fences everywhere. Still, I guess better be safe than sorry. So, we headed out and found a minibus, which took us past all the universities and over the Nelson Mandela bridge. We jumped out at Newtown and headed for Mary Fitzgerald ...
