... br> Down at the lake they had a floating pier which was very cool and we walked out on it and when we looked in the water it was all sparkling with gold because all through the sand is fools gold so it makes the sand sparkle under the water, it was very beautiful. Madi was amazed and wanted to bring back some sand but Daddy didn't think it would make it through customs! We tried the water and it was very cold.

I am sure everyone wants to know my gas mileage. From Gilroy to Menlo Park was 8 mpg and from MP to Reno to Carson City was 8.74. That 8.74 included the climb up 80 in the Sierras and the mountain I told you about in the previous paragraph.

long sleep! Amazing after 20 hours + on coaches. We took a free
shuttle to the airport and then another one to the Nugget hotel in
Sparks . . . home of the West's Ribs cook off. The rib festival was
huge, a really nice atmosphere, loads of food and loads of people. We
looked around the stalls and then chose the Texas Outlaws stall. I
had pulled pork roll, bbq beans ...
We left Elko and hopped on I-80 to Salt Lake City, Utah. The road was straight and boring until we crossed the Utah border, changed our watches to Mountain Time, and saw the salt lakes. These were solid, though, and I can safely say I've never seen anything like it before. It wasn't until we were close to SLC that we saw liquid salt lakes and eventually Great Salt Lake.
We had about an hour to walk around Temple Square and take pictures of the Salt Lake ...
