It was a great 2nd day in the finger lakes! We started the morning by going to Watkins Glen State Park, which is right at the base of Seneca Lake. It was a beautiful hike along the waterfalls...we took the gorge trail north and then the Indian trail south. A very hot day, so a hike along the water in the shade was perfect! We had started the trip to Watkins Glen from Edison in New Jersey in the morning hours of July 25th. Having set the paths on the GPS the route we decided on was through Scranton and Binghamton.

When we reached, the GPS took us to the upper entrance of the Park. The Park has three places that one can enter from, the Upper Entrance, the South Entrance and the Main Entrance.

... We reached our last stop, Robert H Treman State Park, at 3:45 and spent 1hr and 10 min there. The guard at the lower entrance said to take the Upper Gorge Trail loop clockwise for the most scenic view of Lucifer Falls. The beginning of the trail reminded me a lot of Watkins Glen but Lucifer Falls was much bigger than any of the falls there. The trail went right next to the top of the falls then the gorge opened up and the falls on the right side of the gorge while the trail ...

... seems to be the "raison d'etre" of this city. Everything looks a little tired and worn, too. But once we crossed into the state park, my opinion changed drastically.
