Schnee

Brrrr......kalt! Einen Stopp legten wir am Cape ...

... things to see and do - seems to create a bit of anxiety for me. But…..you soon get into the ‘groove. We followed the Fundy Coastal drive along the south shore of New Brunswick, stopping in Sackville for a picnic (a small university city - very pretty). The essence of fall is surrounding us every where we go now and more and more autumn colors by the day.

We arrived at our B&B at about 5:30 PM. Three provinces; one day

The original plan was to take the bus from Charlottetown to Amherst, rent a car there & drive about for a few hours prior to the train’s departure late in the afternoon. However, the thought of getting up at 5:30 to catch the bus & carrying a boxed breakfast plus going through the hassle of taking a taxi to the bus depot & dealing with luggage on and off the bus as well as in ...

On to Moncton

Monday, September 7 – To Moncton N.B.... Following an early "continental" breakfast, whose sole merit was that it was free but still way too dear, we were on the road again. At Riviere-du-Loup the Trans Canada Highway dives to the south east and, symbolic perhaps for the disdain of Quebec for the impoverished economy of New Brunswick, becomes a two lane highway virtually all the way to Edmundston. After a thousand kilometers of divided highway ...

Moncton & Surrounding area

... The train made several stops en route throughout the night, as well as waiting on several occasions for freight trains to pass, since most of the route was only single track. Upon day break I was awake aware of the vast greenery outside the window, speeding past diciduous and coniderous woodland for a least 3 hours solid. We were in New Brunswick, which is 80% undeveloped, the majority woodland. Since were ...

Acadian Coast

... Acadian farmers arrived after migrating up the Petitcodiac River from the Bay of Fundy. The region was captured by the English in 1755 and the Acadian inhabitants were subsequently deported. Lucky for us we stumbled upon the Atlantic Nationals, Canada's largest car show. There were approximately 1,500 autos in downtown Moncton from all over North America! I just had to get a ...

... a distinctive part of Canada. We stayed for about 2-3 hours, long enough to notice a distinctive change in the water level; the sandbars that were visible when we got there were long gone by the time we left, as the water was actually lapping around the bottom of the flowerpots. Back in Moncton, we saw a bit of street music as part of the seafood festival, and had a delicious lobster dinner.

Moncton!

... tent on the main street where there was some live music and a stand selling clam chowder, crab cakes, and some other stuff - not your typical street food. Also, there were some silly blow-up things in the street, i.e. a large inflatable can of beer. We went to a couple of cooking demos, walked around the waterfront, and then went to a farmers market, to a couple of vintage shops/boutiques, and to a bistro for dinner.
