... famous beach. It has very little development and a very long stretch of grey sand. The surf looked ok but the beach itself lacked visual appeal. By this time it was ok to check in so we headed back to Jaco. It's not the most glamorous or charming town but equally, not as tacky as the guidebook made it seem. ... and a Tilapia tank. The water from the Tilapia tank is pumped through the plant beds in the greenhouse, providing nutrient-rich water for the plants. The plant's root systems filter the water for the fish as it returns to the tank, completing the mutually benefical cycle. Dish me up some Tilapia with a side of spinach, please! We have learned so much and greatly enjoyed small Costa Rican farm life... ...

... Sea side of the country is the wettest area where bananas grow.

In fact Costa Rica exports Bananas, Pineapples and other tropical fruits which grow in abundance here.

Our driver Mr Ron stopped from time to time to pick fruit, flowers etc and Leo would talk about them and pass them around - he certainly knows his stuff !

... but I'm definitely not ready to graduate to another level yet. I need to study!! Spanish lab was fun though. Laura bought two different types of banana: a) a sweet one that was fried called patacones and b) a green banana (not the ripe one) that got fried on one side then taken out, mashed, placed back on the frying pan then once fully fried, got sprayed some salt then served with a bean dip! ... and the best sweetest pineapple Ive ever tasted.
We are just about back to the ship now. We've been spoiled with the weather again today, with sunshine and not a drop of rain, right in the middle of the wet season here in Costa Rica. I can see rain clouds gathering now for an evening downpour.
