... castle had four levels and we went all the way to the top where we saw a cross on the top of the chapel. Ben thought the views from the top were brilliant. Next stop was the Chateau de Blois. This castle had horses at the front - Jon wanted to go for a ride but sadly we didn't have time. The horses were big and had hairy feet. Blois was very pretty and the castle was excellent - looking very different from different sides. Last we ...

... menu at a restaurant in the main square. Back to the tent for rest and recuperation. Very hot and we are being irritated by thunderbugs or thrips. We were under no illusions when we started that things might not always go our way. The campsite is a bit of a letdown and the bugs are bugging us. ... restored, but with very modern facilities. We have the attic room, with sloping ceilings, exposed beams, Sky light, dormer windows and a BATH !!!! We are in heaven. After another delicious lunch from the patisserie, we toured the beautiful chateau sitting at the entrance to town and surrounded by a substantial moat. The interior did not disappoint either. The craftsmanship is amazing, even more incredible when we discovered it was built in the 13 th ...

... the right road to head out on. There is much consulting of the maps, and believe it or not, a couple of times I worked out the way before John. John has his own pronunciation for the village names, his Japanese is definitely better than his French. There are lots of other riders, although at times we could go 10 kms without seeing anyone. We have seen the same two guys at least 5 times in the last two days. By now they greet us ...
