... they got planning permission! Came back via the Super U. Cooked goats cheese wrapped in pancetta drizzled with olive oil and honey on a bruschetta.. ... is beyond words. Took 60 years. How they hauled the rock up the cliff face was amazing. They had a massive wood wheel that 6 or so monks would walk in and that would wind a sled full of granite up an almost vertical slop that was about 80m high. We think we're so clever these days but what these guys were able to do... And the fact they weren't daunted by the time it would take or the effort. Very inspiring.

We drove to Orleans via Tours (we did not think much about it as we did not see anything interesting although we missed the turning for the town centre). We then found a lovely place with a castle (one of many along the river Loir) called Amboise and we stopped for a short stroll. Then we drove through Blois and onto Chambord –the most famous chateau in the area.

... I have no internet. I try the French couple parked next to us. They fiddle about with it, but, seem to think it has not worked.

I cycle the 2 miles back down the road to McDonalds, to use their Wifi to do my essential banking transaction.

When I get back, I fiddle around some more with the Orange SIM card, suddenly, it works, problem is, I do not know what I did to make it work!

Turns out, that was a false alarm, still not working!
