... is short for "Shawangunks". This is a MECCA for rock climbing and bouldering. There are SOOO many 1 to 3-pitch trad routes. In fact, there are at least a thousand climbs of varying grades.
The climbs here in the Gunks are definitely sandbagged here (sandbagged means the climb is harder than the rate given to the route). This area holds a special place in Ben's heart, as this is where he learned how to trad climb.

We had a beautiful warm summer day to do a 50 mile cruise down a section of the Hudson River. The Catskill Mountains were in our western view most of the way.
