Day started slowly but in the sunshine. We set out to find early traces of the Oregon trail. Surprisingly not easy to find not much information available. However we found Vermillion Cliffs and the river crossing. Which the first toll bridge had been built charging $1 per wagon. 300 wagons passed in a day.

I didn't sleep that great and was awake around 7 this morning so I got some breakfast and then went on the treadmill in the fitness room. Might as well. I was on the road by 9:40. Ugh. Boring! David left very early and flew to Orlando for a conference. The kids and I packed up and set off across Kansas. The only thing to look at was the occasional herd of bison and the miles and miles of wind turbines. We finally reached our stopover hotel in Colby, KS. There's not much to say about ...

... in McPherson, KS. And we took pictures of their amazing pies, rather than having a slice. I have a new understanding of "amber waves of grain" as all we have seen for miles and miles are wheat fields! And did I mention Kansas is flat! We arrived safely at the RV park around 6:30. After we quickly set up camp, we had a light supper, took our evening walk, and went to bed. Ready for another long drive ...
