Coconut Palm Inn Key Largo

The Coconut Palm Inn is the most relaxing place I can imagine!

The one bedroom suite was very, very comfortable, and the overall facility was fabulous. Coffee on the beach in the morning, beautiful sunsets in the evening. The Inn is well set back from Highway 1, so there is little or no road noise. My husband got a great recommendation for diving, which was an added bonus.

I would absolutely recommnend the Inn to anyone, and hope to someday go back for another stay.

Our stay at the Coconut Palm Inn on Tavernier Key was great!! Beautiful palm trees, hammocks swaying in the breeze and two piers overlook the bay all add to the ambience of the place. This is not a Marriott, it is a quiet, relaxing place, steps from the bay and beautiful sunsets! Our room was clean with a small frig and coffee maker, and the bathroom wasn't big, but had a good sized shower. Breakfast consisted of coffee and packaged muffins and granola bars and was served outdoors. We took advantage of the free kayaks and kayaked around the bay checking out the boats and yachts at the nearby marina. Also, there is a paddle boat to use at no charge. The staff was very pleasant. We will definitely return to this charming Inn!

I have stayed at the Coconut Palm Inn several times, in several different rooms, and loved it each and every time. Sometimes friends from Miami drive down, and I drive up, and we meet at Coconut Palm Inn. It is, above all else, relaxing. Beds are very comfortable, same for high quality sheets. Beach is as nice as any beach on the gulfside of the keys. It's clean and well groomed. Pool is nice, too. Coffee on the beach in the morning is elegant. Price is right. I'm surprised by complaints in other reviews. Do you come to the keys for a perfectly manicured cookie cutter hotel? this isn't it. This is old Keys style, with chic updating. Staff is very accomodating and helpful. Location is perfect. Being off the highway makes it better, more quiet, and more peaceful. Lots of great things to do in the area.

I've rated Coconut Palm Inn "Okay, but some problems", only because there is no rating between that and "Terrible". To say this was the most uncomfortable 'Inn' I've ever been in is an understatement. After reading their web site, my husband and I thought it sounded like a good choice. We couldn't have been more wrong. The rooms are tiny, no sprinkler system, no in room phones (god help you if you have an emergency and don't have a cell phone!). We should not have even checked in, since their policy is once you've checked in you are responsible for the entire reservation, no refunds. When we parked the car I took one look and had a bad feeling. Picture 1940's motel with what looks like original furniture and fixtures. Window screens, torn and hanging, cracked walls, only one closet with 3 hangers (it was literally less than one foot wide!). No reading light (only a light in the ceiling fan) or tv in the 'living room', and the only way to watch tv in the bedroom was to sit on the edge of the bed or go to bed! There was 1 hideous chair, in the bedroom, that my husband couldn't get out of without my help. The only pluses, the paint was fairly new and except for the ants in the bathroom, it was fairly clean but musty smelling. We had a 4 night reservation, but were so uncomfortable that we opted to 'eat' the last 2 nights, and moved to the Marriott Key Largo which was only $30 more per night. I wish we had made that our first coice. What a tremendous difference. A mistake we won't make again.

My family stayed here in January of 2006. We had a number of special requests and all were cheerfully and efficiently granted. The location is excellent - midway between Key Largo and Islamorada. A restaurant and a deli are within walking distance. The pool was warm and inviting and situated on the edge of Florida Bay. Paradise!

After much research including this publication I selected the Coconut Palm Inn. We stayed in the Coconut Palm Suite. The photo on the Inns website probably does not do the suite justice. It is very large and has a deck out the front that faces the sea. My family comprised my wife ,a 3 year old and a 11 month baby. The design of the suite allowed the 3 year old his own bedroom and shower/WC. The large bedroom/suite as seen on their website splits into two by sliding door and allowed the baby to sleep comfortably in its travel cot [crib]. The room was clean as was the entire site. The owner was happy, and certainly willing to assist. As I lay swaying in the hammocks I was perplexed as to why anyone should find anything wrong with the place. Breakfast was coffee and muffins sufficient to get me to a breakfast specialist elsewhere if I so required. This place concentrates on relaxation,peace and quiet,and letting you acclimatise to the 'Keys'.

First the positives - The inn itself is adorable. It's quaint and quiet. The dark wood and pale linens used in the decor gives the place a classic Hemmingway island feel. The continental breakfast was nice, as is the fact that they provide kayaks and paddle boats free of charge. The downside to the inn is that I was expecting a beach (which the website promises). Instead, there is coarse sand spread out on the ground held back by a small retainer wall. This drops off into the bay which contains mud and sea grass. My idea of a beach is sand that gradually fades into the ocean, providing a pleasant transition between sand and ocean (a la Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in "From Here to Eternity"). Another downside is that the pool pump is unusually loud. Maybe because this place is so quiet (which I appreciated) it seems the only thing I could hear was the pool pump. And of course, there were no waves crashing onto the beach to drown out this sound.

This review is a long time coming. We found this place based upon the internet and were a little nervous when we pulled off of Rt 1 onto a side street. We opened the high wooden fence and entered another world filled with sunsets over the bay, peace and of course a few relaxing hammocks. We loved our stay and are planning on returning for our 5th anniversary. We went in late October when the locals say you really get the best there is to offer. Perfect weather, low rates and things are not as crowded. This is really a place for couples looking to get away. Oh and for some excellent food try Marker 88, we ate there three time in one week. Their food was excellent.

Our visit to the Coconut Palm Inn last year was so great, I'm returning again this year! The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and it was relaxing and peaceful sitting under the coconut palm trees watching the sun go down and the boats go by. The rooms were clean and decorated to the hilt. The rooms had a contemporary plantation look and feel that reminded me of Hemingway. All the people that worked there were friendly and very helpful and gave us lots of suggestions about where to go eat. We found some good restaurants close by and a great breakfast place with biscuits so large and yummy we had to have a carryout. The Inn even has its own resident bird that makes its home perched high up on a pole over looking the bay and pool area. I would definitely recommend the Coconut Palm Inn!

Spent four days at the Coconut Palm Inn and can not wait to get back! If you are looking for a place to literally get away from the outside world, this is it! Set well off US1 in a residential neighborhood on the bay side of Key Largo, this beautiful establishment will whisk you away to your own little slice of paradise. One of my favorite features of the Coconut Palm Inn is its versatility. Our room was equipped with a small refrigerator and range, so if you are interested in stocking up on provisions, parking the car, and then parking yourself in a palm shaded, wind swept hammock for several days without leaving, (which I plan to do next trip) you can! My girlfriend accompanied me and had never been to the Keys, so we took a few side trips. The Coconut Palm Inn's location was perfect! Central to the dive shops we used as well as many exquisite restaurants and fantastic sea side bars, we were able to frequent these charming local establishments without the concern of a long drive. If you are looking for a little more recreation on your vacation, the Coconut Palm Inn offers kayaks and paddleboats to their guests free of charge. With the mangroves and open bay literally in the property's backyard, this was an exciting bonus! For those trailing their boats, a ramp is located just outside the front gate and there is ample parking on site for your car, so you can launch your boat, tie it two one of the property's two long piers, and not fret. Myself, I preferred alternating from poolside lounge chairs to shady hammock with a book, a beer, and a charcoal grill with a few burgers cooking. That reminds me, each morning, a free continental breakfast of muffins, orange juice, tea, etc...was served. This was a VERY welcome touch for those of us who maybe had a little too much "fun" at those sea side bars the night before. From the courteous and attentive staff (thank you, Kathy!) to the beautiful room, to the glorious property, Coconut Palm Inn will be my Keys destination, and my recommendation to family and friends, for years to come.
