It feels very selfish to be on this tropical island and not share it with family and friends! It is an exquisite mix of British old school and Caribbean casual. This irregular pear-shaped island is 4 hours (dare I add turbulent hours) west of Miami. It's good it is such a beautiful place because it makes it easier to forget the 5 hour delay out of Miami. Thunder, lightening, white out conditions made it impossible to continue our journey. Many flights were canceled, and it was hard to see so ...

... people gyrated (I suppose it was dancing?) in colourful costumes – or rather accessories! All to celebrate the end of the sugar cane harvest and the success of the rum production!
On one day we hired a car and explored the island – marvelling at the ferocious seas of the Atlantic at Animal Flower caves and Bathsheba compared to our gently lapping, clear, warm, blue waters on the west coast ...
... in front of them, others staff members trying to use their benefits but falling short. The customer service of the AA representatives was horrendous enough to be worthy of its own blog, but it's not one I feel like writing right now. We were all trying different options. We thought about trying from different airlines - everything is full. Different islands, everything is full. We even thought ...
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffeThis is my third day trying to get out of the island on standby. I was 38/47 on the list earlier. So many families of staff members using their tickets for holiday.. It's insanity. It seems to be impossible to get out of the Caribbean right now! Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, otherwise I may have to cancel parts of my itinerary.. :(
Rockley, Barbados kilgiraffe... performance groups. The early college group was here for education and a senior trip (hence a little more partying than usual) ~ Bill Gates Foundation is one of their sponsors. Last night we rocked the boat ~ literally. Wait until you see the pictures. By the way, if you want to see more of them, I'll send them via kodak easyshare gallery. For those of you who already requested more ...
Hastings, Christ Church, Barbados lposein... little shopping and we have scrapped the itinerary plans for the day. Tonight finds us sailing on a dinner cruise.
Yesterday we adventured deep into the earth at Harrison Cave. After previewing my pictures, I decided cave photography is not in my future. Off to Welchman Hall Gully after that. It's a Barbadian National Trust property with incredible floral and fauna. What ia fauna? Hmmm...We ...
... pink. Can you guess what color I got. Yep, pink. :) The pastor was young, energetic, loud and loved the Lord. It was good.
Let's not talk about my 3-nap afternoon. Come on now, this is getting ridiculous. Well, I was up late last night and did have to get up early. Usually a good travel book will hold my attention, but as I was reading, the call of the nap was louder than the call of the travel book ...
... at 10 in the morning. We have had several short conversations and I started praying for her. Today we talked about her faith. She seems so hopeless, bitter, lonely. Her kids own this resort. They take her as long as they can handle her (the beach waiter told me) and then bring her back. Please pray for this precious soul who is so lost in her pain.

Dear Blog,
As much as I enjoyed this morning's excursion, this afternoon, I am off to a coast to coast scenic drive of Barbados. I opted for this excursion because I wanted to take in as much as possible of the island's highlights.
After we boarded our air-conditioned mini bus, off we went through the center of Bridgetown. We saw sights such as Heroes Square and the Houses of Parliament. We then drove by the Lion at Gun Hill Signal ...
... arrived in Barbados this morning at 7:00am under a warm blue sunny sky. A new day, a new adventure. Today promises to be quite exciting since we will be swimming with sea turtles and tropical fishes. Lets hope they show up!
As we disembarked the ship around 8:00am , we met with our tour guide and followed him to another pier to board a really nice sleek, power boat for a high-speed ride to Turtle Bay ...
