Can't comment on the regular rooms as we were upgraded to the penthouse suite which was superb.
Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful. No restaurant so you have to go out for breakfast.

Rooms are small and parking isn't convenient (valet only). Noisy air-conditioning and not street noise proof.

Staff here are friendly, room reasonably cleaned and location is central for Waikiki.

    Hidden treasure

I booked into this hotel due to a special offer going on and it was a bargin! The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and have a balcony. I didn't try the free breakfast but considering they were at least offering one is a plus. The location is a bit out of the way but it's a short walk to the beach and there is a IHOP nearby for food. I would definitley go back, this hotel and it's staff have won me over!

    Great Stay

I booked the reservation online and this was the first time I've stayed at the Aqua Coconut Plaza. I was not disappointed. Even though the building was old, the hotel is very clean. The staff was so friendly and assisted my husband and I with all our needs and questions. We will definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel to our family and friends.

    Excellent Value

I travel to Honolulu once a week from Kauai and I just stayed at the Coconut Plaza Hotel. The service was outsatnding and the value was graet. They gave you breakfast in the morining. This place is in a great location to travel to and from waikiki. If you need a nice place to stay and clean then you should try this Aqua.

    Gross hotel! Great service!

I have been to Oahu many times and this was by far the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. The off white couches were stained with gray and brown marks. The ceiling was moldy and the bathroom shower was mildewy. On the first night I made the mistake of walking around barefoot in the hotel room and my feet were black!! My feet were cleaner when I was walking around the beach!! Aside from the hotel room, the staff was awesome and the breakfast was good.

    Love the Coconut Plaza

Have stayed at this hotel for many years and truly appreciate the property and the wonderful staff who always make me feel welcome. It's become like a home away from home in February for the past years and always look forward to returning each year.

    Staff Excellence!

Firstly, I would like to say, that the staff at the Coconut Plaza really made our holiday special!.Honolulu is a beautiful destination, all the Hawaiian islands are,and we enjoyed Oahu. This hotel is placed on Lewers st. & Ala Wai blvd, adjacent to the Ala Wai canal.Honolulu is a busy & noisy city& you can hear some of this when your at the C.P. My wife & I have traveled the Islands for about 12 years now and have stayed in many diff. properties. The C.P. has clean,&functional kitchenettes that serve us well. There are also Lanai's & ocean/mountain views from most rooms. It's location to Waikiki is just a minutes' walk and there are all the amenities close by. Shea ,Derek,Mike,Vince,Steve,Tom&Charles did everything they could to make our stay a memorable&special one! The pool/sunning deck is a bit small but in Honolulu space is tight to say the least. The sun shines on these areas most of the day and we enjoyed the "baking time" .Everything about this property is nice and we would recommend it to anyone with the following note: windows are louvered type which is nice for the breeze, but not good for sound insulation(renovations are planned for '07,& we're hoping 4 new windows).Overall, we loved the staff & had a pleasant stay at the Coconut Plaza! Very satisfied with our stay here

My husband, brother and I stayed here for two nights pre-cruise and one night post-cruise. It was clean, although certainly not new and flashy. The location is great, just a block from an IHOP and convenience stores (don't miss the ABC stores in Hawaii, very good prices on souvenirs). This hotel is now part of the Aqua chain, so hopefully they will invest some money into the appearance of the rooms. But we were comfortable enough and felt it was a good value for 3 older adults sharing a room. Kitchenette was more than adequate and 2 bathrooms sure helped. Management let us check in early and out late, and were helpful. Continental breakfast is muffins, juice and coffee, but with prices being what they are in Waikiki, this is great. Parking is $15 per day, valet only, but that's the same everywhere. Just a block to the bus line, which is very efficient - why rent a car? Staff were pleasant and helpful - would stay here again.

    The price was right

This hotel was ok. The price was really good. It was clean. It was nice to have the little kitchenette. It was very quiet, and the staff was helpful.

The pool was very small, and it was a bit of a walk to the beach.

It was a comfortable stay, but I think I would pay more the next time for a hotel on the beach.

Great location and the best staff!

Upon calling the hotel for rates, I found that is was very comparable, especially for downtown Waikiki. When we arrived, we were greated by the staff which made it feel like we had known them. They helped us get our luggage in and got us settled very quickly, as we had just been on the plane for 14 hours. Any directions we needed to specific destinations were given to us, and we never got lost. The staff also suggested things to see and do. After leaving, I realized I didn't have pictures of the hotel or staff, and sent a camera back. They were so helpful in taking pictures and sending it back to me! I will absolutely stay at this hotel on my next trip in December of 07!!!!

So, it's a sad goodbye to Kona and Hawaii, we've loved our time here in Kona, the weather has been lovely, the hotel and location has been brilliant and we've seen and done some amazing things. On our last full day in Kona we went for a swim in the morning then went up Mauna Kea in the evening. This is the largest volcano in the Hawaiian Islands …

Welcome to Hawai'i with a sore behind. But it is nothing for me to be bummed about...knowing that on this very same flight - an American Samoan U.S. Marine Corporal is coming home to his final resting place. This sends chills up my spine, reminding me how blessed we are to enjoy the freedom that service men and women provide for us …

Okay Hawai'i is a mecca for outdoor sports. Don't even think I wouldn't end up doing something exciting while I am here. But first, I need to feed myself with some delicious noodles that I saw last night at this Japanese noodle house...
