... it did not have the pledge to the flag ritual. Students received their diplomas individually rather than in groups. As you will see in the photos - students wore gown and cap, just as at the university level in Canada. Each group of graduates - Letters/ Sciences and Computation/Communication had its own valedictorian (both young women) who spoke well and briefly. In the evening I returned to the radio station with Pedro to meet Melo who was already there, to participate in a round table discussion in a daily program called "America Libre". I became more Honduran when Melo presented me with a cell phone that he had bought so that we would be in contact when either of us were about different tasks. Cell phones are inexpensive (relatively) and it seems almost everyone has a cell phone!

Now, I understand that in most churches, when new people attend the sunday service, they make and effort to welcome them. In Honduras this welcome includes hauling you up to the front of the church and asking you to speak to the congregation about why you are there. Very embarassing! Fortunately I was able to speak in English.
