... t really say much so we just had to look at the trees and see what we could see. I asked one guy, “Is that a fruit?” as I pointed to a tree. He simply replied, “Yes,” and said nothing more. I don’t think he’ll win the “Tour Guide of the Year” award anytime soon. Besides some little turtles and butterflies, we didn’t see much after an hour. The forest was beautiful though. After the boat trip, the guys were eager to ...

... trees, which surprised me. At times I felt as if I was in the Guerneville area of California. Green plants are everywhere spotted with brightly colored tropical flowers. On the way back we walked through small towns and saw the kind of rural life that I didn’t see in Quito. Dogs, cows, chickens and butterflies wandered everywhere. Women were sweeping the dirt floors of their mud houses, a task that I struggle to wrap my mind around. We all got the alien ...

Volcanoes, Pupusas and Bluebird buses

... I could've definitely fought back more, but what would have that done? I just couldn't believe it was happening when it was going on...my head was like, "is this really happening right now, is this person really trying to rob me?" So I've accepted it and moved on. For as much travel as I do, besides a few petty things being taken from me out of a tent of my bag nothing ever happens. And if this is the worse that happens to ...

Omoa is not Samoa

... left us at San Pedro Sula (new bus station) where we just jumped into another small bus which sped all the way to Omoa. Our desire was to stay as little as possible at San Pedro given it has nothing touristy to offer and its the worst criminal hub in the area (perhaps in Central America?). So the less time the better. Omoa is a local beach resort and has not ...

... rates of traffic fatalities in the world." Needless to say, we had high hopes for this country. We were pleasantly surprised though. The people that we met were very nice and friendly. So far every supposed "dangerous place" has turned out much nicer than the "safe places". We only made one stop in El Salvador, the Pacific beach of El Tunco. People come there for only one reason basically, to surf. We had high hopes of becoming master surfers ...

Stuck in limbo

11 this morning, we're stamped out of Guatemala, with the least fuss imaginable, if only other countries were so amiable about the process on either end. Thanks Guatemala!. 15 minutes later, at the Honduras border, things deteriorated. Now at 5pm, we're in a hotel in Puerto Cortes, after being escorted here by an "custodian", awaiting completion of the paperwork for Eve's permit to drive around in this country. Of the 17 steps ...

Enkel in april ...

... the room A clock in the room That the bathroom and the room with the bed would actually be two separate rooms That if you had a toilet and a shower (which in the case two nights ago), separated from the room by a plastic shower curtain, you would as well have a sink. I guess you could rationalize that the shower could second as the sink. That a TV would be in the room. Now its considered "super high class" if there is a TV. Towels. What kind of places don't have ...
