I headed to Nyngan at the beginning of this week, and was thrilled to read the sign on the way that told me I was now entering the 'Outback'. Nice to know I officially made it, on this trip. hehe. Got to the caravan park and decided I wanted a cabin instead of my tent for the two nights, but as I pulled up, I discovered I had a most unusual neighbour. It looked like a very ...
Nyngan, New South Wales, Australia wherever... there before moving on to Nardoo Station for the night. This was interesting but VERY muddy as they had had heavy rain. We ejoyed a campfire dinner there and Carmel, the owner, read bush poetry afterwards. They have an artesian spa here, 37 deg.but it was too boggy to get over to it which was disappointing.
Katherine at Manbulloo Station, Northern Territory, Australia cyril.jenLast night in Katoomba was so cold that it was frosty. Lucky us arrived just after the shops closed and discovered that we had forgotton to purchase a heater. What fun we had, we slept fully clothed and inside our sleeping bags. Even then our feet were cold. After a bracing shower, we continued on through the NSW outback towards Broken Hill and ...
Nyngan, Australia alanandchris... mistaken, we were successful, in fact we caught two, I cant post the pictures on the blog as they might put you off your tea but I will show you them when I get back!!! Next it was time for sheep shearing, Daniel was of course a natural at this and after a few kicks and head butts I managed to get the hang of it too! After a go with Ted's shot gun (yes it was real) we headed for an Opal mining village, which of course was ...
Outback Adventures, Australia teamdacG'day mates, Well tonight is my last night in Australia, I'm sad to leave however I'm ready for MY bed!!!! It has been so great this last week, visiting LeShell and having a great time with her. We road tripped to Melbourne and stayed there for 4 days and then drove the Ocean Road. All I can say is it is AMAZING and everyone should experience it. We drove a big square and saw ocean ...
Bathust, Australia shelbyestelleWhat a wonderful opportunity to be invited by my friend Peter to accompany him in his Piper Arrow aircraft to visit his friend Anne and her daughter Nonie's father in the Outback. The location was the northwest corner of NSW, 70 km from Cobar and 80km from Bourke, essentially the start of "the back of beyond - the Outback". The "bird's eye view" from the plane was wonderful, as we watched the changing scenery from patchwork farming, the Yass Valley and then the ...
Cobar, Australia donnakingdonIt's been a strange two weeks. Stephen has been working during the week in Malaysia, so Maddie and I have been on our own in Oz, which, though we're used to being on our own whilst Stephen is working overseas, seems weird when you're on the other side of the world on your own, if that makes sense. Probably weirder for Stephen though, returning to Kuala Lumpar after all these years away after living there for a couple of years. During the long weekend in the middle of his KL ...
Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia c_s_m_luurtsemaIts great living in a city that you don't know, as you feel like you are on holiday whenever you are not working. We have decided to start doing the touristy things at the weekend (when not hanging around the beach) so have recently been to the Zoo and to the Hunter Valley (the wine region a couple of hours outside of Sydney) Sydney zoo has one of the best views over Sydney and it's an adventure to get to (a boat and then a cable car). I was excited as it ...
