    ... miss and appreciate friendships until distance is put between them. Although I have been in touch from across the Pacific, it was so much better seeing them in person. Along with Deana we all went to Starbucks, for Chai Latte number two and catch up. I am now home, after - really living the same day twice with the time difference.     ... there was absolutely no wind for the whole trip which made the beach camping quite nice. That did leave for rather very high humidity hiking, but it allowed for easy tent setup and cooking. All the designated campsites have bear lockers and composting toilets so there is a benefit to making it to one of them. You can camp anywhere if you really want to, but then you really need to hang your food to keep it out of the hands of the bears and other critters. ...

    ... which made for a very scenic journey with just one downside, they do tend to use the deafening horn rather too frequently, but I guess it's better than hitting another vessel.     ... We hired a car on the island (from it's one rental place), and drove to our accommodation for the weekend. It was a gorgeous cottage, set up on a hill adjacent to the owners' house, a Glaswegian couple who had lived on the island for years but still hadn't lost their Scottish accents.
