I am officially a leaf peeper! That is somebody who travels around just to look at the autumn leaves. And they have been fairly spectacular,although not quite at their peek. Not wanting to waste a moment, I reconned the best things to do in Newport, and drove us out to Bellevue Ave to visit "The Breakers", former holiday home of the Vanderbilts. This area is home to some of the most magnificent mansions of the Gilded Age, jaw-droppingly gorgeous creations of awesomeness. An hour's tour of "The Breakers", and a drive out to the very snooty Newport Country Club, and we were about ready for dinner.

... this… the expensive carriages in the historic towns are much prettier to see from across the road than from the horse’s backside, the Statue of Liberty and skyscrapers were much prettier from the land side viewpoints and ferry boats, and the money we save can be used for the occasional dinner out at a nice little restaurant of tavern.
