... but they weren’t going to relent, so instead of the $10 we would have paid, they were willing to get nothing.
We drove on up the Island, on highways and a few prettier byways, ending up at a County Campground on the south coast in the town of Shirley. It is a large campground, fairly rustic, wooded, and very sandy (though we were not on the beach), with sand so white it looked like a dusting of snow. ... north it cleared and the sun sort of came out. It was chilly though.

We drove up Route 1 thru Narragansett and saw the remains of the casino - apparently it was once quite a destination until a storm took out most of it. We ended up in a little mom and pop hotel.

... share with them – will only cost us something like $50 or $60 each which is so so much cheaper than any of the ships excursions. Obviously we’ll be going to the places they want to see but since this is Peggy’s Cove in Halifax and Anne of Green Gables farm in Charlottetown we couldn’t be happier.

After morning exercise, Jane and I drove to a needlepoint store in Barrington, RI. The Picket Fence was a quaint little needlepoint store. We enjoyed the drive, lovely scenery along the coast. After lunch at the Black Pearl, Jane, Buddy & I drove around the area to see the historic mansions.
