After a couple of flights - one being on the new 787 Dreamliner, and a 45 minute drive- we arrived at the Beach Harbor resort.

I rented a little cabin up in the woods and it has been a great base for exploring the peninsula. Most mornings have started out with my trusty thermal mug of coffee and Addie dancing in the waves at Whitefish Bay State Park.

... was always marked by the odd hardwood tree turning a brilliant yellow or orange, usually in isolation among the evergreen trees. What I saw yesterday was an embarrassment of riches, everywhere I turned acres and acres of golds, reds and oranges covered the landscape. I tried a couple of times to get a good photo, but nothing could do it justice. Now when people say 'I miss the fall colors', I will have much more sympathy for them. I would miss them ...
