So here are some more Northampton ones, including some from the shoe museum. Even the elephants boot. The explanation for this was that someone decided to see if it the Hannibal-over-the-alps-with-his-elephan ts story could really be true. Saturday - Northampton

Miles - 8.29
Locks - 8
Weather - sunny spells.

We were last here nearly a month ago. It seems quite a bit longer than that. We plan to stay here at Midsummer Meadow until Monday morning when we shall hopefully set off quite early to tackle the Northampton Arm of the GU. We have really enjoyed the Nene but I will be glad to get back onto the canals again.

However, we were informed that a farrier is a person who shoes horses and a blacksmith does iron work. Apparently, it is illegal for a blacksmith to shoe a horse and can carry a fine of 1,000 pounds ...
