... We passed Houston, where we encountered four separate bumper-bashings that caused tailbacks down the freeway. The first and most severe we managed to avoid by taking a parallel road, and fortunately the others were clearing by the time we reached them.
We reached Columbus, Texas rather later than we had hoped. Our hotel was opposite Sally's Steakhouse, so we retired thereto for a well-earned meal and a beer or two.
... bike gives up soon after. A two hour wait and we load the bike again onto the back of the support vehicle.
We continue on our bikes for the 200 miles still to do and get to our hotel at columbus at about 730. Interesting doing battle on the maze of roads around Houston, but we get through, despite the heavy traffic.
A quick shower and a nice steak at a nearby restaurant. A tiring long day - sleep beckons.
Today we took a historic tour, sponsored by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. We started at the Stafford Opera House and ended at the Christmas House. We had a private tour from a lovely lady, Tess, who showed us great Texan hospitality. After the 2 hour tour we headed to Mikeskas Bar-B-Que for a great dinner. The ribs were the best we ever ...
