Then us 4 remaining of the tour got in our taxi back to Colombo but first we made a stop on the way at Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage which is a home for injured elephants. We got to see them from very up close during their bathing time, and then coming out of the river back to their grass area for feeding.     ... there are 120 residents, 5 sisters or nuns and volunteers when they can get them. The home for these throw away people is a real testament to love. The residents of all ages thrive on any physical content. There are kids and adults with mental disabilities , spina bifida, cerebral palsy, autism, progeria, downs as well as infants with different disabilities..
