... an hour walk and it was surprisingly hot outside at 20degreesC so by the end we were both sweaty and tired. When we got back to the apartment we took a nap and this time it was actually a short one. Chris decided he needed a haircut so he got the name of a local place from Dave and went out to cut his hair. He came back looking very handsome and less like a chia pet! His words not mine! We spent the afternoon making spaghetti sauce to take on the road with us and then had ...

Today we drove to Cades Cove in Smoky Mountain National Park. Because it was through the mountains, the road was slow but picturesque. There were snow banks on the sides of the road as we drove up to Clingman's dome trailhead. At times along the way, you would see little snowmen that people would have built. They had an early snowfall 2 days ...

      Summary

Drove 220 miles in 3.5 hours.

      Highlights

We arrived at Karen's aunt Suzanne's place around mid- afternoon, perfect timing for a hay ride and pumpkin pick expedition.

So we jumped into the car with Robbie, Suzanne and their 2 year old daughter Christie for the 1 hour drive to the farm. After the swampy low land country of GA and SC it was a welcome change to enter mountain country. The scenery was spectacular with ...
