Historical Traveler Reviews Clube Humbria Albufeira

      Excellant Hotel

      from

Hi, I have used trip advisor in the past but this is the first time I have written a review. This hotel is excellant, the food is amazing with soup or salad for starters several choices of main course numerous salad dishes, two pasta dishes, and multiple desserts. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Each evening there is children's entertainment around 8pm and a show around 10:15 pm. The only slight downside is the pool is alittle cool, but its only minor and should not put you off a visit to this excellant all inclusive hotel.

      Thank you and enjoy.

      Fantastic holiday

      from

      Hotel

The room was excellent and very spacious, even though there was 4 of us in the room. We also had two balconies, we were on the 2nd floor of G block. They were all very modern as you'd expect from a new hotel, they were spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The beds were a bit hard though. The pool was a good size and there were plenty of sunbeds even though the hotel was full. The bar and other public areas were clean and were well maintained and clean.

      Food

The breakfasts were varied with plenty of choice and excellent fresh fruit and cereals. The cooked option was good, though the sausages will not be to everyones taste.

The lunches were excellent, all self service including beers, wines and soft drinks. There is plenty of choice and you shouldn't go hungry. You can also get snacks throughout the day until 6pm from the pool bar. The evening meals were excellent again, with pleny of choice, the pastas were superb and again self service. The staff were very attentive, clearing the tables as quick as you'll clear your plate.

      Bar

The service was generally very good, but the bars are quite small and at times resulted in queues. A few guests did speak to the management and extra bar staff did appear. They did say that they do put more staff on in high season so it shouldn't be to bad later on in the year, though they did concede that the hotel was actually full when we were there.

      Entertainment

The animation team were excellent and didn't hassle you if you didn't want to participate. The kids club was also very good and my 5 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself making lots of new friends.

At night it always started with the kids disco which was loved by the kids & Ok if you were a parent but I would imagine it to be annoying if not.

The acts generally were quite good but has normally finished by 10.30pm & then it was just music.

The entertainment at night was all indoors and the room is not big enough for the number of guests so it can get crowded and smokey.

      Resort

Is quite small resort, with some bars, restuarants and shops. The beach is a ten minute downhill walk but is well worth it, obciously the walk back is not quite as pleasant. The kids loved it, especially the rock pools (when they appear!)

      Overall

Excellent holiday and would definitely go again.

      Fantastisches Hotel

      from

      Really Nice Holiday

      from

We stayed at the Clube Humbria for a week at the end of May & had a really nice time. The rooms are really nice with a lounge area with a TV annd also had cooking facilities.

There are 2 pools there - a large one and a smaller kids pool. The water wasn't particulary warm but was very refreshing as it was very hot...you did get used to it! The pools were also very clean.

The food was nice - buffet style. There was a lot of choice for breakfasts with hot food and / or fruit, meats & pastries. There was a hot cooked buffet lunch (also food at the pool bar) and at dinner there was a meat / fish choice with pasta. The food was good but it would have been nice to try some traditional Portugeuse food.

The hotel was nicely situated with Albufeira & Villamorra within taxi reach, also near the hotel are a number of nice shops & restaurants and a good little supermarket.

We took the trip to the Aqua-Show water park one day, which was great with lots of slides, mini golf, bird show & a wave machine, it was also very quiet when we went so no queueing!

The only fault really was that after dinner there wasn't really a lot to do in the hotel. There wasn't enough space in the bar (where the evening entertainment was held) & the reception for all the guests to sit down so you would end up outside which was quite chilly...we found a nice little sports bar called Shakers that we went to a couple of times, but if you are tied to the hotel it may be a problem.

One hint: when you get picked up for the journey home it may be an idea to opt for the premium check-in or get a taxi to the airport, we got picked up 45 mins before we had to check-in (it was at least a 45 min journey to the airport), then we had to queue for nearly 2 hours as there were 4 flights leaving from the same desks and then we were the last people on the plane and got split up with the seating.

All in all though it was a great holiday!

Good for families with young children

      from

The hotel is in a quiet fishing village between Vilamoura and Albufeira. The village has a supermarket with a few bars and restaurants. The local beach is superb our whole family found the days at the beach as the highlights.

The hotel is quiet and very well presented being very clean.

The rooms are very clean with towels and sheets being changed regulalry. We had an a view of some adjacent scrub land and local villa's from our terrace but this did not really affect our holiday, ask for a pool view if you like to spend time sat on your balcony.

The standard of food served in the restaurant is ok with a good selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a help yourself arrangement from buffets with drinks taps and soft drink machines to quell the most serious thirsts. Queues start to form at peak times to get into the restaurant.

The pool is clean and safe with sun beds scarce after the early morning towel run. If you can be bothered to get up early and stake your claim a day round the pool is pleasent. The pool bar serves drinks and snacks from 10am to 6pm and be prepared to queue again as usually only 1 person serves.

The night time bar gets very busy during the mini disco and show times. Be prepared to wait in long queues.

Overall we liked the hotel and would recommend it to others.

      Fantastic hotel

      from

we stayed in this hotel for a week and it was the best week i have ever had . The staff were very freindly and were allways willing to help. The food was grate there was always a fish and a meat dish and plenty to go with them. The food for the kids was good to . And as for the cakes i have never ate as much sweet stuff in my life but you just could not resist they were lovely. They also had snacks round the pool wich were grate for the kids . The rooms were fantastic they were clean and eveything was in it that we needed the maid was in everyday. The pools were brill they have a massive one for adults and a smaller one for kids they are alwas clean. i would recomend this hotel to any one who wants a good family holiday there is plenty to keep the kids busy. the resort its self is quiet but plenty of resturants if you fancy a change for a nite. The beach is a 10 min walk away .

      Ten out of ten

      from

If you have a family and wish a good all round holiday then go to Clube Humbria. The staff were very helpful, the hotel itself was brand new, clean, and well equiped with all the little luxuries that you would want from a package holiday. Located in Olhos d'Agua, it is a 15 minute drive from Albufeira or Vilamoura. We went on the trip to 'Slide and Splash' and it was the best trip of the holiday with the water park fantastic for kids and adults, however the one complaint was that booking through the hotel we had to pick up throughout Albufeira and it took 90 minutes to get there. (Going by yourself in a taxi would have been about 25 minutes). There is plenty shops and cafes situated close to the hotel and the beach is about 10 minutes walking distance. The hotel food in the dining hall was fantastic with a wide choice of fruit, veg , meat and breads at every meal time. Breakie, lunch and dinner.

I dont say this much after a package deal, but 10 out of 10. I could not complain about anything.

      Great hotel

      from

Cannot rate this hotel highly enough.

Really made our holiday in Portugal, the staff were very friendly, particularly the reception and restaurant staff. Nothing was too much trouble. After numerous requests to fix some dodgy air conditioning in the room, a repair man came very quickly, the same for when our TV wasn't working, a fast, efficient and courteous service.

Too many times I have encountered sullen and rude staff, not here - they made our stay very pleasurable.

The location is a bit off the main town of Albufeira, which, depending on your tastes is a good or bad thing. For us it was ok because we like to explore the area and not hang out at the garish neon-lit hot spots of downtown Albufeira.

The food is a typical buffet setup but what made it better than most hotels of this ilk was that the quality of the food was very good. The starters were excellent with a large variety of salads, the main course were limited but there were plenty of desserts aswell. On Valentines Day we had fresh oysters and king prawns for dinner which were amazing.

The baffling decision not to allow coffee to be served in the restaurant was one thing I couldn't understand and the restaurant needs more staff. We went in low season February, I can't imagine how busy it would be in high summer, although we would never come to such a resort then.

We did plenty of trips, the Lisbon and Seville trips are a must, go with the local Paradise tour company who were very good but be prepared for a full 12 hour day and plenty of pick-up and drop-off points!

Also go on the market trips, catch the local bus down the road.

I'd definately recommend going to Portugal at this time of year, you do get tourists but not on the scale on high season and it's much more relaxed and still very warm, average was about 17 degrees.

      Quiet and relaxing

      from

We came here after finding the first hotel we should have been at wasnt finished. The apartment type rooms were very good clean and spacious. Food was fine but not a huge choice, the allinclusive drinks were pretty rank so paid extra for branded drinks. I hate hotel entertainment and this was no exception just involves brits making fools of themselves, but horses for courses. The pool area was good but i would imagine would get really busy in peak season. Other clients were moaning about everything but we only paid £300 per person and i thought it was good value at that price. Area is ok there is a lovely cove at the bottom of the road, beware piclpockets in Albufeira, i was stalked twice and we thought the place was a bit ropey. Go to the marina for a bit of the highlife

      Fantastic family fun

      from

We wanted a quiet holiday which is exactly what we got although if you wanted you could join in the more lively entertainment provided each night. Kids loved the buffet style restaurant. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Kids club not overly pushy and kids of all nationalities made to feel at home. The apartments were very clean and well equipped. Pool area kept very clean and washed down every night including the sun loungers! Cannot rate this hotel high enough.

Yesterday we went in the car to Sagres. This is a promontory right at the end of the Algarve where the land turns north at the Atlantic. There wasn't much there, but a fort and lighthouse. We even seemed to miss the town. note way back we called in at Lagos ( Lagosh) we found a cafe on a hill overlooking the water. From there we could see where we were staying and with my new binoculars, we could even see Bill and Sues balcony!! We walked down the hill and dad spotted a team GB sailing ...

We found out that Jordan and Zara still have their fear of boating and sea water.

It was a beautiful, traumatic experience for them.

And the big news is that Zara finally lost her first tooth. She was so excited and happy.

Such a beautiful place, a perfect town to relax, hang out at the gorgeous beaches and take in a few local meals at the restaurants.

      Crossing the river to Portugal

... before crossing the river to Portugal. It was a 1.5 hour drive and we had great conversation along the way. So for 8 Euros each we made it to the border, much less hassle & price than on the bus. I guess this service is very popular throughout Europe – helps people cover the high cost of petrol and a fun way to meet other travellers.

I sat with the luggage while Brad scouted out the tourist information in Ayamonte. The plaza is very sweet, another hub of ...
