I made it to Lagos yesterday. Its basically a beach/party town. The second place that I walked into turned out to be a really great room for 25 euros a night complete with my first english language tv of the trip. Today I spent part of the day in Sagres, the southwestern most point in europe. Good for pictures and walking really really far. Tomorrow I´m going to attempt to get to Seville.
... the city. Lagos is such a small but beautiful town. The people are more friendly than I've experienced thus far here in Spain. The shops are soo unique, just like the city they are filled with so much life and culture.
I feel so tremendously lucky, I never thought I'd have such an opportunity to be able to travel like this. Our world is so full of culture and I've only begun to explore it!
... and had a good time. The only thing i sthat i was sad to leave lagos. I really felt home there in a sense that i was there for a coulpe days...well portugal in general. But, i bought my ticket...Sigh, to Sevilla. and it was my time to meet up with Sean, Kevin and Chris...three dudes from back home. A time to actually travel not solo. A change of pace. But, i recommend anyone to go to Portugal. Thta has definately been the best week of my trip, so far.
... to Belem for the famous egg tarts at Pasteis de Belem - the mecca of all pastries. During our journey, we unfortunately saw a darker side of Lisbon as Emily was the almost victim of a pick pocketer. As we boarded the tram, a woman who looked like a tourist placed her coat over Emily's purse and rummaged through her bag. Luckily Emily felt her attempt and shouted at her to back off. Nothing was taken, so it was all good.
All of us and our purses made ...
... and I are pretty athletic and good looking, so we made it back 2nd out of the whole group (not that we brag about it or anything).
We spent our last day with a yum brunch at Cafe Odeon, relaxing on one of our favourite beaches and had another delicious BBQ before heading out for a few drinks on the town
We could have stayed here forever, but all good things must come to an end.. and we wanted to have seen at least one more place in Portugal before heading to Italy!
... lucky to have her in my life & I'd really like to get a replacement ring.
If anyone is visiting and is able to drop off a few rings to a nearby resort. My friend owns a timeshare and the people at the resort will pay you to make it worth your while.
Thanks,
Andy

... so many tanned beautiful people walking around, i felt like an albino! we shopped for a few hours and brought a few things... we didnt make it to the beach because we got carried away. the place was like one big market with so many side streets.
that night we went to a few bars... the first bar we walked into was called "inside out" and there were aussie´s everywhere haha... we came here to get away from them kind... it was pretty fun there ...
... Ended up surfing one day with a Crazy Englishman who loved to talk a pulling his pud, the friendliest Welshman, a relatively quiet Irishman, a very cool yank and a couple of spanish lads as well. The change of pace was a great decision in the end, a lot more chilled out, scored some epic waves and made some really good mates along the way. So to some things up- first trip as a solo traveler- complete success!
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal rusty_oz... pleasing indeed. The marzipan (I think) cakes are works of art in themselves. As they have a similar price tag we didn't have any but they are similarly appealing anyway. On toward the Sao Vincente lighthouse at the south west cape, we stopped at Beliche Beach to see the cliffs and wind-swept terrain that Sagres is famous for. Sparkling water ...
