... of time and settled in for our 2 x 1 and 1/2 hr train trips. Two things that have amazed us here are 1. The number of vineyards and grapes - they are everywhere! Soooooo many grapes, no wonder local wine is cheap here. 2. The number of castles - if there is a flat or even a small ridge or shelf up high there is a castle on it!! When we got there, we drove straight through, there was a lovely church but apart from that - nothing else....not even a gelataria!! So we headed to Salo instead and parked at ...

The sun was out and the sky was blue when we woke up. We had a leisurely breakfast and I went for a walk. Rather than walking from the villa, I drove down to the town of Gardone Riveria and parked and walked from there down the hill to the lake. It was a great walk and aided by footpaths it was a lot less hairy. I walked down to the main road and headed towards Salo and walked to the ferry departure point at the Grand Hotel. I returned to the car, up ...
