... ways, with intentions to meet again.... I expected sunny beach town, and got grey skies, deserted streets and a post holiday blues... this was the last weekend before chilians returned to school after thier summer holidays and the depression and back to school attitude was totally tangible! i arrived at the hostel i was staying at, which was a converted old boat on a rock point, literally no one was there, and ...
Concepcion, Chile jvangeenderWe left our little peace of paradise in the countryside and headed to Concepion, which was a little colder than Talca, but as we are going south that is to be expected! It took a bit of walking around with our heavy rucksacks in the centre of town before we found a hostel to stay in, as the one in the lonely planet seems to have shut down some time ago. The place we found was a bit dump, but as it was right on the main street in the centre of the city, we ...
Concepcion, Chile jon-daniellaWith just a little trepidation I looked out over the waiting crowd for Ricardo. Would he be very different after 20 years? No. Just the same. My short hair caused a moment of hesitation from the other side of the glass but no more than that. Where do you start after being out of contact with one of the most important people of your university years for so long. Well, 'You look just the same' is probably not original but it was what I said.
Concepcion, Chile marco_andres... are in fact a big deal in Chile and they mostly consist of eating lots of very nice meat and of course drinking Piso Sours (a Chilean drink of Pisco, freshly squeezed lemon and sugar) and lots of red wine. As you may guessed i have been a little tipsy every day so far. Chilean people are very welcoming and excellent hosts, Anaīs (for those who donīt know she used to be my flat mate in London ...
Concepcion, Concepcion, Chile stellitita... point, I try to avoid using it, but it's kind of like trying to learn English without ever saying "the." Of course, there are many other commonly used words that are different in Spanish and Chilean, further complicating things. And then there's the pronunciation... In general, the last consonant of a word is just left off. In its place is the word "pues," which is basically just an overused ...
Concepcion, Chile aallen02... very nice and very helpful, and I really feel like a part of the family. In fact, they are exactly what I thought I wanted in Guatemala. The problem is that I have not lived with my parents for 6 years, and moreover, I have lived by myself for the past 3 years. All of the sudden, I have a mom who is telling me when I can eat meals, where I can go, etc. Because she is used to doing everything for her "kids," she expects that she needs to do them ...
Concepcion, Chile aallen02... the coolest thing was the banner the fans made and set up before the game that started at the very back of the stadium and was pulled all the way to the front, was around half the length of the stadium and would have completely covered at least 7-8000 people in the crowd. It was a big *******. The game continued and with about 15mins to go Colo Colo were down 2-0. Despite this the guy beating the drums and the chants did not stop even for a ...
