... area on the way to Marmaris we were fascinated to see a Turkish submarine following us!
We spent several days in Marmaris to get the chart plotter fixed, do some shopping, and to visit the boat broker I'd bought the boat through. Marmaris is also very touristy at this time of year. Leaving Marmaris, we could see the Greek island of Rhodes in the distance, and were glad to anchor once more in a quiet little spot called Bozuk ...
... we felt it sensible to "park off". Sticking to the back roads and keeping as close to the lake as possible in hope of finding something led us to Dalyan. Dalyan is famed for its tourist attractions most of which are reached by boat taxis.
The turtles at the river mouth, the mudbaths and the Kaunos archaeological site being some of the more popular stop overs if one takes a day tour.
No campsites were obvious ...
... We have sampled local food in several places and particularly enjoyed The Mermaid – a seafront restaurant with a roof top seating area and a brilliant maître d and side kick. The food was great too.
Serife has her restaurant on a shady vine covered veranda off the main street into town.
She makes amazing pancakes in a wood fired oven and has other local dishes. A simple but adequate basic menu is on order ...
We walked down to the restaurant and were intrigued by the containers of water at every bend. Water - to bus used in the event of a fire!
Our walk took us along the sea front at dusk - so picturesque but a huge new hotel may have an impact. Unfortunately the road is too narrow to safely walk back, at night. This meant we said no to the deserts!

Now comes one of the worst bits of any holiday... packing to go home! How do we get everything in the cases when they were pretty much filled to bursting on the way out here? Especially as we've bought a few bits to bring home that will need to be shoehorned in too. Somehow it all seems to fit into cases that had no spare room two weeks ago... very strange...!!!
