Historical Traveler Reviews of Club Meza Del Mar All Inclusive Puerto Vallarta
Rude, racist, homophobic. THE WORST
from A TripAdvisor Member
I have traveled all over the world and the staff here is the worst.
From the moment of my arrival they were awful. First, they tried to send me to a neighboring hotel telling me it was also the Del Mar. Only when I insisted did they admit what they were doing. The hotel has beauty and character, but the staff is cruel. I was harassed continually, never receiving the same service as other guests. My fridge remained empty while others were full, guests I invited to my room to watch the sunset were refused entrance, I was stopped constantly and questioned, and no one did anything even when I complained. I am not a budget traveller but I love old character places. I am not flamboyant, I am lowkey and private. I returned from this vacation completely stressed. I would never recommend it to anyone, especially anyone Hispanic (I am white) or gay. I went to P.V.
to be alone and rest. I wish I had never gone. The discrimination and racism was unbearable. The worst travel experience I have ever had.
Dirty Hotel and Beach

Beach is very dirty! Hotel is a 1 star at best and the food also. it is isolated from the main hotel district so beware!

Good value for the money! All of the staff were very friendly and helped create a "family" atmosphere while staying. Food was not the greatest, but again for the price I wasn't expecting much. Cleanliness of the hotel could have been better. Great location on the beach with umbrellas and a cafe (the food served there was good). Wonderful vacation!

Meza del Mar is all about fun!

I have been there 9 times in the past few years and you can be sure I will be back. The most frequently asked question when guests meet is "How many time have you been here?" Meza del Mar attracts a loyal clientele of friendly, fun-loving people of all ages and backgrounds.
If you don't know anyone when you arrive, you soon will. Likewise, the staff is friendly and professional while obviously making their jobs almost as fun as your vacation. The suites are more than spacious, more than adequate, though not luxourious - certainly more than one should expect for the price. Nightly parties at the open air night club are lively and attended by a diverse happy crowd of seniors, children and everything in between. If food is your thing, you will probably breakfast and snack there but go out for dinner (if you can tear yourself away from the good time you are having.) If slick, impersonal mega resorts are your thing, this is probably not for you. If you enjoy meeting people and want to kick back on the beach to share drinks, laughs, and music with smiling people of all ages from different places, you might want to try it.
A terrible place!!!

HORRIBLE Service, Horrible food, Dirty Hotel!!!Traveled in May 2003. Reserved and Paid for a Deluxe Room and upon arrival they had given it away, but did not tell us until after they took our $98 in tip money. They told me they had overbooked only after they tried to stick us in a dumpy room. Had to fight with Hosa (desk Clerk) to find us what we paid for. After a 45 min fight, they did in fact have a room they were saving for someone of more importance. The hotel cleaning staff took all the beer and pop from the Frig, just to spite us as they did not want to stay and clean it. Room's A/C did not work well and they did not seem interested in fixing. Food was so bad it was almost a crime. Day of Check out, they had given our room away before we were out. People were out side our door banging to get it. Poor Customer Serive. Dirty hotel. Scum in and on the Pool was so thick that kids were writing their initials in it. I have traveled all over the world and this was one of the worst hotels I have seen yet. I could go on and on. A Rustic 2+ Star At Best

This is the old "looks are deceiving" brochure technique. As an all-inclusive, low-cost, family-friendly, hotel/resort, we found this to be a well-worn facility with some cleanliness problems. The pop & beer stocked fridge were nice, but the over-all unattractiveness of our suite and mildewy showers in both bathrooms gave the us a less-than-clean feeling about our digs. While tipping was paid-for upfront, some of the wait-staff and maids were not as friendly--but warmed up when given some added pesos. The buffets featured the same entrees and desserts day-after-day. We found ourselves dining out in the evenings. The flavor of the downtown area w/in walking distance was a perk. Beware of the beaches in this area. They are public and at times were very trashy. Overall, we were surprised at the lack of quality we found associated with even the simple things like the filthy beach chairs and tables under the palaypas (sp). We'd definitely consider a different resort/hotel the next time we go.
5 Stars for the Meza Del Mar

The all-inclusive Meza Del Mar is not only a great value, but a great hotel all around. The 1 bedroom suites are huge. There is also a mini-bar in the room, and the fridge is stocked with water and soda as well. The staff was always friendly and attentive, and the walk downtown was not very far. The food was definately good but my personal tastes would have liked a little more variety. I am a SCUBA diver who frequents this area at least twice per year and have stayed in many different hotels in Puerto Vallarta and my vote is definately for the Meza Del Mar. (for you friendly types like me, they do frown upon bringing guests back to your room)
Great Value-Great Service
from A TripAdvisor Member
I had a 10 day stay and it is a fine all-inclusive property within walking distance of shops, on the beach extending to the hillside. The rooftop restaurant is fantastic and the view is fabulous. The staff is extremely knowledgable & helpful. 2 nights for the price of one wasn't bad also. Local phone calls are included so connect to the internet from your room. If you drive down, safe street parking is available.
Meza Del Mar

Popular with the locals, Meza Del Mar is a good value all-inclusive with a fun atmosphere. Located on the south end of town, the property is an older time share/condo on a steep hillside. Try to get a suite on the upper stories and you'll have a great view of the bay. The suites are large and the stocked bar is a plus. Nightly entertainment is usually disco and contests. Food is OK, if not predictable, but they will serve it on the beach. Get up early, get a beach chair and let the staff serve you.
