If that wasn't enough to fill you up, dessert was also included, which meant an enormous slice of cake and a coffee. David's cake was so big and rich that he had to ask for half of it to be put in a bag to take home.

By the end of the two days, apart from eating well, we have worked out a pretty ...

Sometimes almost crouching/in a foetal position, it was that bad. The snow underfoot was frozen completely solid and the only hope you had of staying upright was to step into the well-trodden footsteps of the guides and other tourists. Footsteps frozen in time. You do have the option to walk it, but we really couldn't be bothered walking up a scree slope. From where you get off there is a long line of people snaking their way up the mountain, there would easily have been 150. Not long after the chair lift the snow starts and then it's time for crampons. Very quickly you could tell the ones who were not fit enough ...

... by a few sluggish groups. At the top there was a large crater that spewed out a vicious sulphur stench. We stuck around for a few well earned photos before heading down. The uphill section had taken over 4-hours. Getting back to the van took around 30-minutes. The method for downhill was bobsledding/tobogganing on plastic sheets and our butts. It was loads of fun and made the hard slog up with the icy ...
