... nice roads. Not quite the remote desolation we exprienced in Argentina. Sadly a rather large wildfire hit the area a few days after we passed through, causing some evacuations, but no major damage.

The winery was called Casa Marin, and was started by one of the few, and rather famous women winemakers in Chile, Maria Luz Marin. It is located in a small valley only about 4 km from the ocean, so experiences ...

The wine is stabilized natu- rally, without treatments, and is only very lightly filtered at bottling with a 3–5 micron (absolute) cartridge.

Very intense, little signs of age. Quite a closed nose with pepper and black fruits. Rich but ...

  • In the Casablanca Valley we made a pit stop at, what else, a winery! The wine is made in massive clay pots using an ancient process. We tasted four wines in the cellar; a Cabernet (83%)-Carignan double fermentation (which means the grapes are fermented together rather than blended); a Syrah blend, a c******nay-pinto blend and finally a pinot noir-muscatel belnd. Really nice selection served in the cellar ...
