¿Quien, Que, Cuando, Donde, Por que?

... city. I don't think they have a good plan for their water system when something like this happens. I stayed at the University until 11 AM checking my email in the computer lab. Then, I took the metro home. There I ate lunch with Oscar (papa) and Margarita. Oscar (hijo) came home shortly after, and I stayed in the kitchen while he ate to listen to him and his father talk about engineering. I'm starting to understand a lot more of their ...

I avoided the water, and just sat in the sand, soaking up the sun and watching the day go by...

After a few hours of lazing about, we got some lunch at Pizza Hut of all places. I also got a pisco sour, and while it's only been my first one in Chile, I must say that the ones in Peru are much, much better. Satisfied overall with lunch, we figured out which bus to take to Valparaíso...
Valpo

... insisted on lining everybody up against the wall like convicts whjile they scoured peoples' belongings in search of rogue apples which might destroy their country. After what seemed like an age we eventually reached Valpo and headed to our accomodation, which turned out to be more like staying in a friend's house than a hostel. The owner, Coco, and his crew took us out to a salsa club that is well off the tourist trail, with the result that (for once ...

Foiled - Ben's kidnapping!!!

... and sour, kind of like my attitude after that worker was so rude to us! But then I thought of Liszett and ... oh ... Liszett ... this hotel is so perfect .... We tossed out the apricots and tried the plums, which were significantly better, but still not good. Ben waited for the girls to get ready, and I headed over to an internet cafe. By the time I encountered one, there wasn't much time before I needed to return to the hotel, so I ...

... email, but didn't have any luck. At 4:30 pm we had the mandatory lifeboat drill and it seemed to take forever. We were late leaving port because they were still loading provisions. As we were ready to leave the city, we went up on the top deck to take photos. The view was stunning. The sun was bright and the city shone on the hills. As soon as we left the harbor, the breeze picked up, but it was still pleasant.

Road Trip, Chile!

... stores are as well-kept and modern as in the States, and the city infrastructure seems to be current and as functional as anywhere. I was impressed with how nice the Chilean lifestyle was for our friends, and stoked to know they're doing as well as they are. Our last stop is Panama, our trip is coming to a close. We reflected a bit on the plane, and geared up for a rendezvous in Panama.

The multi-coloured madness of Valparaiso!

... in some sites we had scanned the guidebooks read the articles and had a map what more did we need. Oh a plan that was it. Out in the daylight Nik and I headed towards the main square unaware just how far we were out of it. We wanted to walk along the beach front then take a left and be in the town centre. Simple. The only problem was that some idiot had built a train line in the way we could see the sea but not get to it. We could have been anywhere shops ...

Valparaiso

Wednesday Today we decided to visit Valparaiso, a city of the coastline - 1.5 hours from Santiago. We managed to get the metro to the right bus station and then get to Valparaiso - woo hoo! Valparaiso is spread over an ampitheatre of hills encircling a wide bay. The bay however has no beach - it is a port and very industrialised. Valparaiso is set on very steep hills and has very colourful houses. Thankfully, there are numerous ascensores (lifts), a ...

One of the loveliest places on Earth

... to meet someone knew so easily. When I went back to Zeus's it was actually open...with people! I ended up having an amazing time there and even made a couple of friends--Angelo, a cute boy who worked at the local newspaper as a photographer, and his friend Rosita. They walked me back to the hotel and we hung out in the lobby for a bit--they were awesome and I really enjoyed getting to know them, despite the language barrier. It was 5 am by the time I crawled into bed.
