      Mammola day 2

A travel blog entry by sueesposito on Jun 17, 2014

We had a better sleep last night and we were greeted by chocolate cake and fruit tart. Don wrapped some quickly in serviettes to have for later. Our day trip to the beach of Marina di Giosiva Ionoca begins. We dropped into a large shopping centre first and found a Maccas. I had some fruit salad and Don a coffee. The girl who served us had parents living in Adelaide. We then went to the beach area which had the umbrellas etc and a grey type ...

... ravioli. We ended up with an extra salad of roast vegetables though. Whilst eating two men came in and one started to chat to Don about his relatives. He wrote down his connection to Lisa through Paulo in Canada. I think a nephew?? Other people ventured in and it felt like you were the exhibit in a zoo- the strange Australians lol. Just when we thought we could leave Don got convinced to have an espresso and limoncello. Our bill arrived and was only !! Unbelievably ...

So Don again came to the rescue with his Italian. We had dinner early and ordered no carne or peschie for me. Don had the local signature dish of Stocco fish. We ended up with 8 plates of food. I needed up wrapping 7 fritters in serviettes for lunch the next day. They think that if you are vegetarian you will starve so they overfeed ...

... so I had to open the car door and reached to get it grhhh! We stopped at Canosa during siesta time. Before we could reach it we had to pay for the use of the road so far. €10 later we got into town. It is very stressful going into towns when you don't know where you are going. A trip including a lunch break needs 1 1/2 hours. The bar we stopped at had heaps of men coming in standing at a bar and having an espresso with aqua. Don ordered lunch mine was ...

      Salerno

... our tables. We finished the night with drinks on the terrace before they made the dark journey up the hill to their accommodation. Our last day we caught the shuttle to Vietri then a bus to Salerno. You bought tickets $1.30 each way from the Tabachi shop. Once on the bus it was hang on tight as he weaver his way along the narrow streets. An older Iatalian lady told a man to take his bag off the seat so I could sit down. There ensued a lively ...
