... high up in the Apennines Mountains. I went on the perfect sunny fall day. San Marino is noted as a medieval city and its three huge watch towers on the edge of the mountain. I was able to go through the main tower and got the most beautiful views. Oddly enough while we were there I noticed some faint medieval music ...
... Rocca or the rock. In fact it served as a prison for a couple hundred years until 1975. We walked the spine of the mount towards the North where an aerial tram takes visitors up the mountain. We visited the church as well as several plazas and government buildings along the way.
We enjoyed a lunch in the old town and Kathy got side tracked by a pair of boots in one of the shop windows, we didn't leave empty handed! After about three hours we left San Marino ...

... who made no effort to move aside and share the two-way walking path with us. We actually had to step off the path pulling our suitcases and walk around them, although I refused to do this by the third group so I basically barrelled through them and knocked one of the women as I went (she wasn’t old or anything!) Self-focused people like that drive me crazy so I delighted in doing it!

A few snippets of our 1.5 days in Milan. What a wonderful city! We only came here as a fly-out point but it has been a great experience.
I love the cathedral here, beats Florence hands down. I think it is its wedding cake outside appearance, and the fact we did a good tour that included inside, the archeological site and exhibition underground (very well done) and the upper "terraces" ...
