Not much to say today. I was pretty lazy for some reason and did not leave the hotel until 11am. Someone else had borrowed the hotel bicycle so I had to get the local bus out to Anemurium ('place of the winds') to see the ancient ruins built by the Byzantines. The city was founded in the 1st century AD but hit hard by an earthquake around 580.

November 9, 2007 Fethiye, Turkey We are staying at the Yacht Plaza Hotel here in the Mediterranean resort town of Fethiye. It's a beautiful place with a picturesque harbor. The hotel is listed as a three star and we are given one of the best rooms on a corner of the building so we have two balconies overlooking the harbor. Hi folks hope everyone is well we having a great time seeing some amazing stuff and mixing hardout sight seeing with some flatout relaxing GOOD TIMES!! So Sulcuk was a nice laidback town and we went to the ruins of Ephesus which were in pretty good condition compared to troy some restoration had been done but pretty tastfully so as not to ruin the historic look. ... Tuesday mornıng headıng towards Anzac Cove to spend the nıght at the Banana Bar ın tents on the shores of the Dardenalles or however you spell ıt. Next mornıng we had a guıded tour of Gallıpolı whıch was awesome to see wıthout the crowds. From there we caught a ferry across the Dardenalles and then headed South to Troy to check out the ruı ...

I should be ticking things off some imaginary list that I compile which invariably involve hiking or scrambling (definetely an expenditure of effort is required) to see some off the beaten track sight or ruin. But Ill console myself by saying that this sort of a day is necessary to act as a buffer zone every now and again - and by going to visit Termessos - which is some ancient ruins of the beaten track tommorow!
